Opponent Report
Trojans 16U
New Prague, MN  •  Summer 2026  •  Jun 30, 2026
Bottom Line Up Front
Trojans 16U win with pitching depth and aggressive baserunning before they win with the bat. Their ace Nick Pruismann (#27) is a legitimate strikeout arm who punches out hitters at an elite rate. Their whole lineup is patient and draws walks, so their opponents' pitchers must throw strikes or they run up a crooked number fast. The single biggest lever: make Pruismann work and get him out of the game. The thing that loses us the game: running up 0-2 counts with their entire rotation before the third inning.

Pruismann is who matters. The rotation is flexible. Expect #27 today given recent schedule. Duncan (#8) as a pitcher means it's our inning.

How We Attack
Short-burst arm used in lead-protect situations. Swing early before he gets ahead. He throws strikes.
⚠️ #8 Alex Duncan as pitcher = free bases. Walked 4 in 1 inning (Lakeville game). If he enters, TAKE pitches. Do not give him an easy out.

Their 2-3-4-5 (Rens, Durbin, Kalina, Ykema) is where the damage happens. All four draw walks and all four can gap the ball. Tisdel at the top turns the order over quickly with the running game. Contain innings early.

The Trojans are aggressive on the bases. Tisdel has 9+ stolen bases across 11 games. Bastyr, Durbin, Kalina, and Rens are all active runners. They accumulated steals at a high clip in the Chaska doubleheader and Shakopee game.

Their primary catcher is Braeden Rens (#16), who also pitches. Rens looks solid. Alex Duncan (#8) and Gavin Rau (#9) have also caught. Rau had error issues behind the plate in one outing.

Defensively they play clean most nights but showed lapses: Kalina had 2 errors at SS in one game, and they committed 3 errors in the June 9 Shakopee loss (which they lost 6-7).

For us: Watch the catcher's exchange in warmups. If Rens' release is slow today, go early and often. Their SB-allowed rate is high across these 11 games.

Play the outfield straightaway to slight center. No pronounced team pull bias. CF and LF gaps see the most action. Juncker (#11) and Bastyr (#20) pull to RF. Pruismann and Weinandt hit to the 3B/SS side.

Per-hitter spray charts — key lineup spots
1
Patience vs. Pruismann. Make him throw 4+ pitches every PA. Get him to 80 pitches by the 4th inning and they go to the pen. He punishes 0-2 hitters.
2
Tisdel leads off and runs. Get him out with strikes up in the zone (he chases elevated). Be deliberate with your delivery timing. He creates runs by himself.
3
Throw strikes to Rens and Durbin. Both walk at 25%+. Walking them loads the bases for Kalina and Ykema. Their 2-3-4-5 is the damage corridor.
4
Play outfield straightaway to slight center. 15 tracked balls to CF across 208. LF should shade center-left. RF knows Juncker (#11) and Bastyr (#20) both pull right.
5
Pitch Juncker (#11) first-pitch. 33 PAs, 2 strikeouts, 3 walks. He swings early. Get ahead 0-1 and throw your best pitch. He will not walk himself on.
6
Alex Duncan (#8) as pitcher = our inning. He walked 4 in 1 IP. Take pitches. Do not give him an easy out.
7
We can run on them. Watch the catcher's exchange in warmups. If Rens' release is slow today, go early and often.
8
Wyatt Miller (#1) as a hitter draws walks. Pitch him away, trust your defense. As a pitcher he's a short burst arm — attack the zone before he settles.
